The property is Grade II listed and located in the Little Venice conservation area – with a canal running along the front of the property. The detailing and materiality of the design was carefully curated to compliment this unique character and heritage. This garden was designed to offer our client flexible social spaces for different times of the day, the design locates these nodes across a subtle terraced structure – overcoming the challenges of a garden which sloped towards the house whilst maintaining a calm and open space. Studio Cullis collaborated closely with Dominic McKenzie Architects to create a highly versatile space close to the house, where the inside and outside are blended into a singular space, with fully extending doors creating a large open entertainment area bounded by lush green planting, including climbers to give an impression of being coddled by soothing green. The central terrace is comprised of formal lawn with a pathway leading past a bronze sculpture towards a peacefully secluded terrace at the rear of the garden. The front garden was completely remodelled around an existing mature Golden Locust tree and includes a characterful Japanese Maple tree within cloud pruned hedging.
