This small courtyard garden in Holland Park has been lowered from its original level to meet a new, lower groundfloor as part of a major townhouse renovation by Johanna Molineus Architects. The existing garden walls, underpinned to retain them within the new garden scheme, have been restored. The various raw concrete textures, created by the underpinning process, are left exposed. Limestone setts and a full width limestone bench unifies the hard material palette. A Persian ironwood tree sits to one side of the garden, allowing space to gather on the bench.
